Barcode

For my dvd cover I made my own barcode rather than taking one from the internet. I used a simple tutorial and I sucessfully made this barcode, which I included on my dvd cover:

For the maing fo my dvd cover I used Adobe Photoshop, I chose a very vibrant colour scheme in order for my dvd cover to stand out amongst others that would be on sale.

This is not yet finished I need to take my main images for the front of this dvd cover.

This is the magazine advertisement that I annotated. I have decided that I would like my poster to look similar to this and to have a layout like this.

Research into avdertising the band

I have looked at some examples of DVD covers and magazine advertisements for my band and I have annotated them. I have decided that for my band I will use a large similar image of both of my documents so that my work has a sense of contingency.

The Music Industry Research

I have spent time researching into how the music industry works and what labels sign what type of bands and how bands get signed. I looked at labels such as Roadrunner Records and Decaydance Records.

Applying Lyrics to Ideas

On a copy of the lyrics to the bands song I have gone through each individual line of each verse and annotated what will be happening in my video sequence during the playing of the song.

Seeking Permission

Once I had decided what song I was going to use I then started to think about how I was going to contact the band in order to request permission to use their audio in my media work.


I found the bands Myspace page and found a way to contact them would be to email them using the email address provided on their page.


Here is the evidence to show this:

The email reads:
Dear Band Members,
I am a sixthform student that would like to use your audio track to make a promotional music video for my A2 Media Studies Coursework. I have chosen your track because I like the song and I think it would be a good way for me to try and show your music to all the people that I know and boost your popularity and also give me a chance to make an excellent music video.

Chosing the Audio

Once I had looked at the different types of music video that I thought were appealing, I then began to think about songs which would be a good audio track for my music video.

I complied a list of songs which I then scanned through and decided upon a song. I thought that it would be better to chose a song from an unsigned band that do not yet have a video for the song I have chosen.

I chose to use I Wish by a band called The Secret Handshake.
